What are Veneers?
Veneers is a thin shell that is usually made out of porcelain or ceramic and placed over your teeth. They can be easily matched the rest of your teeth to look natural. They are a great way to make you achieve your ideal smile.
Am I a Candidate for Veneers?
Veneers accomplish a variety of things. They can close gaps, cover dark stains, make your teeth all the same length, and give you a fuller and brighter smile. All of these reasons will help you achieve the smile you've always wanted.
Veneers are best for patients who are looking for a cosmetic upgrade to their current teeth. If you have severely stained teeth or minor wear, then this could be for you. Slightly crooked teeth also can be treated with veneers.
If you have sustained more significant wear, injury, or decay of your teeth, other procedures might be more suitable. Dr. Arkelakyan will be able to work with you to determine if your teeth can be improved with veneers or another treatment.
Types of Veneers
There are two main kinds of veneers. Both have their own advantages. When consulting with our team, you will be informed throughout the process of choosing which is right for you. Below is a quick rundown of the two most common options.
- Composite Veneers: Easier to repair, more affordable, faster.
- Porcelain Veneers: More natural-looking, exceptional durability, maintain color.
Are there alternatives to Veneers?
If you are not an ideal candidate for veneers, there are some other options to help improve your smile. One of the options is using custom porcelain dental crowns to improve the stength and appearance of the affected teeth. Unlike adding a thin veneer over the front of the tooth, a dental crown will fit over the entire tooth like a cap.
The other option is using cosmetic bonding for minor, purely cosmetic improvements. However, while this has the potential to provide great results, the results provided are not as long lasting or stain free as veneers would be.
There are many factors to consider and during your initial consultation with Dr. Artur Arkelakyan, you will discuss what the best possible solution is for your needs.
